Why Kimu?
The institutional Jewish community provides for many avenues for one to deepen their connection to Judaism - there are conversion classes for those converting to Judaism or supporting a partner who is doing so, there are orthodox ‘kiruv’ programs meant to support those seeking to become traditionally observant, and there are adult Jewish learning opportunities through synagogues, JCCs and the like. Kimu is not a substitute for these offerings, nor is it mutually exclusive to them. This is a non-institutional, supportive, container for flexible and co-created personal exploration.
Is Kimu for Me?
Kimu is for individuals who are investing in their spiritual lives and are appreciative of ritual, community and ancient wisdom, yet don’t feel complete in the integration of their Jewish identity. Maybe you had a bar or bat mitzvah, some family experiences with Jewish practice, or participate in shabbat and holidays; yet something feels missing when it comes to owning your Jewish spiritual identity. You want to be more fluent, integrated, and empowered to own your Jewish connection as an aspect or throughline in your Jewish identity and life.
